Luah Marques
About
Dancer, choreographer, teacher and director, born in Garopaba in 1990.
Luah Marques fuses vertical dance, hip hop and contemporary dance to invent new ways of experiencing movement. Since 2023 she has been co-artistic director of the company Les Oiseaux Perchés with Julien Rossin. She founded OOD, Où l’On Danse, and co-founded Collectif B, a training programme for dancers in Marseille.
She trained from a young age in classical, contemporary and hip hop dance: breaking, popping and hip hop freestyle. In 2010 she moved to São Paulo and worked with Cia Anacã and Grupo Gente, among others. In 2014 she began studying vertical dance and joined Cia Base, and in 2018 she was movement director for Artur Faleiros’s circus project Malabamétrico.
Between France, Spain and Brazil since 2018, she collaborates with Cie Itinerrances and Pôle 164, Cie Vol Plané, Les Têtes Bêches, Cie Nava Rasa, Transe Express and her friend the visual and urban artist Gugie Cavalcanti. She is an associate of Échappée Belle Théâtre-École, the Festival de Marseille, Mesonée in Correns and Espir.
She currently co-creates and performs ALTO and Pulse (2024/25), and runs education projects in Marseille with Klap Maison pour la danse, the Baumettes penitentiary centre, ZEF Scène nationale, the Marseille School of Fine Arts, the Pierre Barbizet Conservatory and the Festival de Marseille, and with FreeZone in Barcelona.
